Queen Mary University professor Hayden McRobbie, a clinical advisor to the New Zealand Ministry of Health Tobacco Control Programme, told the Australian Associated Press that “the next best thing” for smokers who can’t quit “would be to switch to vaping.” With that in mind, here are five reasons why smokers should make the switch from smoker to vaper.

1. Less harmful than cigarettes.
According to the findings of the latest e-cigarette evidence review conducted by Public Health England under government mandate, vaping is likely 95% less harmful than smoking. This reason alone should compel many smokers to consider switching from cigarettes to electronic cigarettes.
Professor John Newton, the director of health improvement at Public Health England, referred to the notion of smokers not quitting smoking with the help of e-cigs as “tragic” as he said, “It would be tragic if thousands of smokers who could quit with the help of an e-cigarette are being put off due to false fears about safety.”
2. More flavour options to choose from.
For those who are puffing on conventional cigarettes, it’s rather likely that the flavour options available are highly limited. With vaping, it’s much the opposite. With some vape companies single-handedly selling more than 50 different e-liquid flavours, it’s hard to imagine sticking with the same menthol and tobacco flavours that cigarette companies offer their customers. With vaping, the variety is vast. There are vape juice flavours like pineapple, strawberry, cappuccino, and caramel. Some vape companies, like Vaper Empire, even offer exotic e-liquid flavours like Death Valley Nectar, which the company describes as bilberry, kiwi, and pear e-juice delicately infused with cactus. With so many flavours to choose from, smokers have just one more reason to consider the switch.
3. Whiter teeth.
One study, which should perhaps be taken with a grain of salt given that it was conducted by scientists at British American Tobacco, suggests that vaping does not stain teeth. Cigarettes, on the other hand, most certainly do stain teeth. At the least, the research shows that vaping does not stain teeth to the same extent that smoking does. So if you’d prefer your teeth stay their natural colour, you may want to consider vaping instead.
4. Fresher breath.
When it comes to smoking, it seems as if most adults are well aware of the less than desirable odour emanating from the mouths of those who smoke. With vaping, this just isn’t the case. Vapers, unlike smokers, don’t taste like ashtrays when they’re kissed and their breaths aren’t stained with the odour of cigarette smoke.
5. Cheaper than smoking.
Just about everyone likes saving money, smokers included. And when it comes to vaping, there’s definitely a good chance that money will be saved, as it’s often less expensive than smoking. The main reason why, at the moment, is the low cost of e-juice, which is often dramatically less expensive than the cost of cigarettes. Add the potential healthcare costs stemming from cigarette use and the savings may very well be that much greater for those who switch.
