Vape juice can be frozen, however, it is very unlikely that storing your vape juice in your home freezer will be enough to freeze it. Storing it in your home freezer will keep your e-liquid sufficiently cold, however, some of the main ingredients found in e-liquid only truly freeze at extremely cold temperatures.
The Temperature At Which Vape Juice Freezes
Vegetable glycerin and propylene glycol, which are commonly referred to as VG and PG, don’t freeze unless the environment in which they’re in gets really cold. How cold? Well, PG won’t freeze until it’s at least -59 degrees Celsius and VG won’t freeze until it’s at least -37 degrees Celsius.
- PG freezes at -59°C
- VG freezes at -37°C
So unless your freezer gets ridiculously cold, which it probably doesn’t, your vape juice won’t completely freeze regardless of how long it’s stored in there. It is much more likely to get very cold, which will help preserve the ingredients that compose it, extending the life of the juice.
Should You Store Your E-Liquid In A Freezer?
You definitely can store your vape liquid in a freezer. One thing to consider before doing so is who has access to your freezer. If there are children present in your home then you might want to find another spot to store your e-liquid, preferably somewhere secured behind a lock and key. If this is not an issue for you then you might consider storing your juices in the freezer where they’ll stay cool.
The freezer is actually a fantastic spot to store e-liquids because it not only keeps it cold but it also helps protect it from light. If the bottle is properly sealed then your e-liquid should store very nicely in the freezer.
The three things you want to avoid when storing e-liquid are:
- Heat
- Light
- Air
E-Juice Does Expire
Remember, vape liquids are made from ingredients that do expire. If you’ve purchased your e-juice from a retailer rather than made your own at home, the container or packaging will probably have an expiration date or “best by” date printed on it. You should use this as a guide. It’s not exact. Your e-juice, if properly stored, can last as long as five years. On the lower end, it should last about a year or more.
Storing your e-liquid properly is easy. Read our guide to proper e-liquid storage to learn how to do it.
